Sony HTCT150 Dramatic Improvement Over TV Speakers
I am using Sony HTCT150 with a large an oversized HDTV in my large family/living space that has high ceilings and is interconnected with our kitchen, dining area, and entranceway. so i am looking to fill an oversized space with sound, however while not plenty of cables and litter.
I originally had a 3+ year previous Samsung TV LN52A750 that has 4 20W speakers built-in (see picture). it’s multiple issues and has been replaced below warranty with a Sony Bravia KDL55BX520 with 2 10W speakers. I knew this can be a big drop in output power, therefore i decided to go with a discrete soundbar & subwoofer. Sony HTCT150 was received ahead of that TV, therefore I had some expertise hooking it up to both the Samsung and therefore the Sony, which i’ll currently share.
As I tested out using Sony HTCT150, I found the sound to be extraordinarily clear and the system sufficiently loud to fill the complete space with sound. I boosted the center level, subwoofer, bass, and treble as many have done to my liking, it never felt like these changes were reaching a limit, never distorted even when maxed out.
There appears to be somewhat little bit of gap between the frequencies reproduced by the subwoofer (low) and therefore the soundbar (mid-high). just like the mid-low range is somewhat missing. perhaps I even have been used to the not-so-sub frequencies reproduced by the TV speakers.
In my trials, I’ve able to go back and forth between the TV and therefore the Sony HTCT150 to match quality of sound. The sound from the TV only is muffled and indirect. The soundbar is clear as a result of it’s directed at you and therefore the speakers demonstrate a far better range. The speakers in the TV case cannot reproduce low frequencies as a result of their size and placement. It’s really necessary to have the subwoofer on the ground. As I walk aloof from the living/family area into different regions, the bass becomes diminished but the sound continues to be wealthy and clear.
Bottom line, i am very happy with the amount level of Sony HTCT150 for the big area it is used, i do not go anywhere near the “50″ volume level, unless i am in the Dolby Digital mode. for a few reason, in DD, boosting the center speaker does very little to enhance the sound level of the soundbar. I even have to turn down the subwoofer and increase the volume to forty or additional for full sound.
So many TV’s currently have pathetic speakers, almost everyone will benefit from a soundbar/subwoofer combination.
Although the subwoofer is incredibly versatile to setup, using with a non-Sony brand TV and parts can cause usability problems.
I highly suggest investing in one whole for the TV, and following through for all the parts. based on my recent experience, I highly suggest SONY for options, quality, and reliability.
