Ipod Mini - An MP3 Player Evolves

Back in February of 2004, Apple Computer unveiled a miniature version of the first generation of the iPod.  Code-named “IPod Mini”, this newer generation iPod weighing just 3.6 ounces that was constructed to be compact enough to appear to be a credit card.

The new IPod Minis has a anodized aluminum covering, which allows it to be more rugged and scratch resistant as compared to the traditional iPod.  Similar to the other Apple music devices, the iPod Mini was designed for active music lovers by designing and creating a storage that could accommodate 1000 to 1500 songs.

With an internal battery, the mini offers up to eight full hours of audio playback with every charge. The most acclaimed “click wheel” of the 4th generation iPods was first seen with the iPod mini. This click wheel matches perfectly with the scroll wheel to provide a convenient touch interface and operation buttons. With these two functions, you can easily scroll to find and play your songs.

A year after its introduction, the iPod mini became available with 6 GB capacity and designed with a better battery life that can play up to 18 hours with every charge using an ipod charger. However, with the release of the Ipod nano in September of 2005, the production of iPod mini was discontinued.

Features of the Mini IPod

Unlike the original iPod, the screens of iPod minis are smaller, but still produce readable displays and functions. The great the about the minis is that the controls perform exactly what you want it to do. Since the minis integrate USB 2.0, downloads and uploads are easy to use and faster than the first generation of iPods.

Of course, with all iPods, their exclusive iTunes can be helpful in adding great songs to your collection. A notable feature of the iPod mini is the click wheel that combines its four buttons into the scroll wheel, making it easier to use than the standard iPods. You can charge the mini using its charger or via the USB cable.

However, don’t expect the mini iPod to last eight hours since most people reported a maximum 7-hour battery life, which is pretty decent for a device that small.

Similar to the other iPods, the Mini includes a functional docking station that gives you the ability to go through your files while it is being charged by connecting your iPod to your computer. Additionally, the iPod Mini comes with useful additions, such as a calendar, and games as well as other useful features.

You can simply search through your music collection by artist, album, song, genre or composer and create your own playlist. All things considered, the iPod Mini has been a very notable Apple audio device that the market has seen in many years.  It continues to be a top-of-the-line seller despite the fact that its production has been discontinued.

Go Mobile With Movies And a Video iPod

The ongoing sales of the iPod and the iTunes service has been extremely successful, in part due to the innovative design of the iPod and also partly due to the fact that Apple Computer has made the decision to be at the head of the field of portable entertainment with their latest generation of players. These new video iPods give you the ability to watch music videos, movies, and even your favorite television shows on a small color screen.

There are plenty of reasons to take advantage of the new video iPod for portable video fun. While no one in their right mind will suggest watching videos on the road, the video iPod is great for trips on the bus or subway, where you don’t have to watch the road closely and you might not have anything to keep yourself occupied. People have been using headphones for their iPod to give them a greater sense of personal space while in the middle of public transit for a while now.

If you’ve got a child in the car, loading up some television shows and a movie onto your video iPod can take some of the boredom out of a long car trip for them, and all without having to pack a small library of DVDs. Even if videos aren’t your thing, listening to some music or a pod cast, which is like a downloadable radio show, on your iPod in the car can make the commute less dull.

You’re Stuck between Classes

If you’re in college, sometimes you get stuck with a break in your classes that doesn’t give you enough time to hit the dorm or drive home, and that can leave you with not enough to do. Using a video iPod, you can kick back and relax in the hallways of your university. And even if you’re not stuck between classes, a video iPod is a great purchase for a college student. Because it’s so compact, a video iPod can go everywhere a college student goes, and the low price of downloading movies and music on iTunes can provide a student with entertainment on a small budget.

No iPod? No Problem!

One of the outstanding features when it comes to the iTunes music store is that you’re not required to have an video iPod to take part in and enjoy the videos that you buy through Apple Computer, all you need is just a computer at home. The iTunes software program itself is a player for the videos and music that are downloaded. It is important to keep in mind, that just because a video looks very sharp and clear on a small screen doesn’t necessarily mean that it will look exceptional when you watch it in full screen mode on your desktop computer.
